1996/9/2 Isshiki Makoto New Year's Godzilla Film Festival Dream

(dream) There was a Godzilla film memorial show at New Year's. I went with my son, still an elementary school child. It was held not at a theatre, but on the second floor of a restaurant; an intimate little film showing. They played the original first Godzilla film. In this film Godzilla takes on human form at times. He has the appearance of Frankenstein as a youth and as a human can fly. He is really kindhearted but lacking in mental faculties, thus unintentionally inflicts damage on towns and people when he becomes a monster. The actor playing Godzilla's human role is Mr. O, a member of the poetry circle at university one school year ahead of me. Half funny was that the human Godzilla inadvertently sets fire to people's houses, but when told by a resident to stop, does just that. As a token of apology he brings a bucket of Oolong tea, a valuable commodity in the post-war days.
A year passes, and there is another Godzilla film showing on New Year's. This time my wife decides to join us and the three of us go. We are at a station waiting to change trains but all of the pure red trains that pull up are bound for the wrong destination. I realize that we've mistaken platforms. Fortunately being New Year's station workers are scarce. We jump down onto the tracks, back up to the next platform, and finally board the correct pure red train. The train speeds through the ocean. The ocean is parched dry, and flower fields and plains cover the ocean floor. Riding through this beautiful ocean floor, I see the Seijo residential district. There are very old private houses. Indeed, this area has charm unlike any other.
