Barbara Nessim's career spans 3 decades. As an artist she has contributed to the fields of fine art, illustration and education. She is an internationally known artist whose paintings and drawings are part of numerous public and private collections and have been shown in museums and galleries worldwide. Her work is in the permanent collection of The Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC. She has also exhibited in the Kunst Museum in Dusseldorf, the Louvre in Paris and at the Centro Colombo Americano in Bogota, Colombia among others. Germany's Frankfurter Allgemeine's Sunday Magazine was one of the first publications to do a cover and six page feature on her electronic art in 1984. In 1991 she had one of the first interactive art solo exhibitions in Soho NYC. Random Access Memories (RAM) included a work where each participant helped create and took away a printed unique mini sketchbook. In July of 1992 she was appointed Chairperson of the Illustration Department at Parsons School of Design in New York. She has also taught in the Masters of Fine Art Computer Arts Program at the School of Visual Arts. Since 1980 she has been doing electronic art created on the computer and has lectured widely on the subject. Her drawings have appeared in hundreds of publications over the years such as L.A.Style, New York Magazine, Time, Esquire, and Newsweek. She has been commissioned to illustrate the covers of many publications including Time, Rolling Stone and most recently (June 29, '97) the cover of the New York Times Sunday Magazine section.
